From Starting Out With Dating To Wonderful Wedding Ideas

Top Tips for Wedding Photos

December 1, 2021 by Bracken 1 Comment

Wedding photos are one of the many ways that couples can look back on their special day. They are also a way for their guests to capture memories too. Over the years of your marriage you’ll have your own memories of your special day: your wedding day.  However, often the image that stands out in your mind is one of your wedding photos.  A moment that you couldn’t see for yourself perhaps: a special moment captured forever.  You’ll be looking at those wedding snaps for many years to come that’s for sure.

Wedding photography is key because it will capture the spirit and the essence of your special day.  Those photographs will blend with your memories and the two will become entwined.  You may struggle to separate memory from photograph in the future. The pictures will tell a story, and not just any story, it will tell a beautiful story of your special day, a day you will never forget. A story that you can show friends and family, your kids, and grandchildren, something you will have and can treasure for ever. Planning a wedding is about more than just one day, it is about a lifetime of memories. It is about capturing those precious memories, it is about being able to relive the day through beautiful photos, it’s about discovering moments that you never knew happened, seeing the emotion on the faces of family and friends.

  • Don’t make your wedding photography an after thought.  Allocate it a budget from the start and find a photographer early on.  As with anything the best ones get snapped up early. Get some personal recommendations if you can.
  • Look for a photographer that takes the style of picture that you are interested in, whether you want formal or casual or anything in between.  See some samples of their previous work and try to get recommendations or testimonials.
  • Find a photographer that you have a rapport with.  You don’t want to have someone being a key part of your wedding if you don’t like them.
  • Some of my favourite photos from my wedding were taken by my friends and family.  A great way of getting them to share these wedding photos with you is to use an app to make things easy.  This is a great way of getting some very relaxed shots and capturing spontaneous moments.  It’s great to keep these in a separate album to look back on.
  • Set up a meeting with your shortlisted photographers to discuss requirements and be sure to compare packages when looking at pricing.  If a photographer is only around for a few hours, they are likely to be cheaper than someone who is there all day.
  • Schedule an engagement shoot.  This gives you a chance to try out your photographer, to make sure you get on and that they fully understand the look you are aiming for.
  • Make a shot list, so you get the images you want and nothing gets forgotten.  Group the shots so not everyone needs to be all the time.
  • Ask your photographer to capture details like the decor of your reception room and your flower arrangements.
