Gamers Make Better Lovers

Gamers are more likely to be in relationships than non-gamers. Gamers are more likely to be in relationships than non-gamers. A study from a few years ago found that 47% of gamers were in a relationship, while only 32% of non-gamers were in one. Additionally, the average gamer has been with their partner for 8 years longer than the average non-gamer.  There’s a tendency to think that gamers spend a lot of time on their own playing computer games and they are less likely to be in a relationship as a result. Sometimes our assumptions are incorrect and misleading and this is a case in point.  Maybe it’s time to look at gamers with new eyes.

A new nationwide study has blown the old-fashioned stereotype of gamers being shy, housebound loners out of the water – revealing that people who regularly game make the BEST lovers.

The research, by Stakester, compared the sex lives of those who regularly play video games to those who never do, and found that a quarter (25 percent) of the gamers polled classed themselves as EXCELLENT between the sheets, compared to just 7 percent of those who don’t game.

And don’t take their word for it, as six in ten (60 percent) gamers have been told by almost ALL of their partners that they are great lovers, compared to 43 percent of non gamers.

When it comes to sexual prowess, 24 percent of people who game said they enjoy having long intimate sessions with their partners, lasting more than an hour, while just 13 percent of non-gamers said the same.

34 percent of gamers claim to be passionate lovers (compared to 27 percent of those who don’t game), while 24 percent admit to having high sex drive, saying they try to have as much sex as possible (compared to 18 percent of non gamers).

Gamers also seem to be less inhibited than non-gamers, according to the survey, with a fifth (20 percent) claiming that if they fancy someone, they’ll tell them – while only 7 percent of those who don’t game would have the courage to do the same.

While 22 percent of gamers say they’ve had lots of one night stands, compared to one in ten (11 percent) of the rest of the population.

Said Tom Fairey of Stakester: “It’s no surprise that gamers make the best lovers. They’re fast-thinking, responsive and have very dexterous digits. They’re no strangers to pulling all-nighters, proving they have the stamina required for the most exhaustive bedroom antics. Plus, they’re very tech-savvy, so any problems with ‘gadgetry’ will be quickly sorted so that play can be resumed.

“On a more serious note, many gamers are part of big digital communities and interact with people from all over the world, so they have an open-minded, accepting mindset. Gamers don’t just compete with strangers on the internet, they forge genuine, enduring relationships.”

When it comes to why gaming might boost sexual performance, 26 percent of gamers believe they have very detexterous hands because of their console control manouvering, 25 percent said they were masters of keeping cool under pressure – and 17 percent said they had quick reflexes, refined by gaming and put to good use in the sack.

Said psychologist Donna Dawson, who worked with Stakester on its campaign: “It is interesting that gamers rate themselves so highly in their sex lives. It appears that skills needed to excel at gaming are easily transferrable to the bedroom: for example, long gaming sessions could encourage longer sex sessions, while being aware of a competitor’s every move could heighten awareness of a lover’s needs and desires.

“Manual dexterity, concentration, fast reflexes and attention to detail are also gaming skills that could be called into play in the bedroom. And the gamer’s ‘quick instinct’ could help ensure more successful sexual outcomes.

“However, perhaps the biggest sexual attribute of a successful gamer is ‘confidence’, which will help them to override any sexual insecurities that could make them falter. And the old adage is true: if you think you are a good lover, you are more than half-way there to becoming one!”

The study also found that, if you improve your bedroom game, it’s worth taking up Tekken, as people who play this the most had the longest sex sessions (49 mins, compared to an overall average of 39 mins).

And if you want a good time between the sheets, it’s worth hooking up with a Dota player – as 40 percent of gamers who favour the tactical multiplayer battle game say that sex is one of their ‘super powers’, compared to an overall average of 17 percent.

While Dota players also claim to have had the most sexual partners – 24 compared to 21 for Street Fighter fans, 18 for League of Legend players, and 16 for Fifa lovers.
